Deck of Cards by Kristine Rae Anderson

spring afternoon
sunlight shifts its weight
among quicksilver leaves

*

sparrows chitter
a whole town deep
in a fig bush

*

deck of cards
tucked in a drawer
behind old letters

one year now
I miss my sister’s
shaking hands
