PLEASE READ AND CAREFULLY FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES BELOW.
1 - 3 poems per submission.
No simultaneous submissions.
No previously published poems (unless by invitation).
Response time: Typically, I respond in a week or less; however, it may take up to two weeks.
If you haven't received a response after 3 weeks, feel free to send me an e-mail.
I ask that you submit once every two months at the most.
Paste your submission into the body of an e-mail, type "poetry submission" in the subject line and send to red.eft.review@gmail.com (no attachments).
Short biographies are welcome (written in the third person and no more than 50 words).
I will consider all forms; however, I prefer shorter poems written in free verse.
I do not want to receive the following genres: fantasy, horror, pornography, religious or science fiction.
In addition, do not send anything that promotes homophobia, racism or sexism. In other words, nothing hateful.
All rights revert to the author upon publication.
I am unable to pay contributors.
I look forward to reading your poems.

Hi Corey,
ReplyDeleteI read your submission guidelines.
Do you have a preference for theme in poetry submissions?
Eileen
Hi, Eileen. I have no preference re. theme. Thanks for your question.
DeleteHello, Corey!
ReplyDeleteJust wondering: does a post on one's own Facebook page, or on a blog for NaPoWriMo, count as a previous publication?
Thanks,
Cheryl
Thanks for your question, Cheryl. I would not consider a poem posted on a personal Facebook page as previously published. That said, I would consider a poem posted on a blog as previously published (especially if it was accepted by an editor or group of editors).
DeleteWhat about a personal blog?
DeleteYes. I would consider that previously published.
DeleteGood morning, Corey:
ReplyDeleteDo you accept submissions from writers after they've been published on your site?
Hi, Sam. Yes! I only ask that poets submit once every two months at the most.
DeleteHow can I submit my work to you?
DeleteSee the "submission guidelines" above.
DeleteHi corey.if my work gets rejected can I submit another almost thesame week or day?
ReplyDeleteI am afraid not. I ask poets to submit once every two months. Thanks for your question.
DeleteIf I submit do I have to include a bio?
ReplyDeleteNo. A biography is not mandatory.
DeleteHow do I submit. I can't find a tab for that yet. Thanks
ReplyDeleteSee the "submission guidelines" above.
DeleteHow do I submit a poem to you?
ReplyDeleteSee the "submission guidelines" above.
DeleteIs there a date on which submissions will reopen? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI am hoping to reopen in the next few months. That said, I can't say for sure.
DeleteWhat is the email address submissions are to be sent to?
ReplyDeleteSubmissions are currently closed, which is why the email address is missing.
DeleteThere is a typo in my submission. What should I do?
ReplyDeleteResend the submission and add a notation to disregard the first email.
DeleteHi! You have mentioned that there should be no attachments in the submission mail and the poem should be pasted in the body. However, a poem that I want to submit has a lot of references for which footnotes are required. Providing footnotes will be possible with word and not while pasting the text in the email body. Also, you have mentioned that you prefer free verse, does that mean verse poems have a disadvantage? I have a ballad (a bit long one) which I would love to send.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your question. I am afraid all submissions must be pasted into the body of an email. You are welcome to send the ballad, but it is less likely to be accepted as I prefer free verse. You may want to consider sending it to a publication that is dedicated to formal verse.
