The Poet's Daughter by Jason Fisk

She sat in the theater's dimness
and watched a movie
with her friends

She suspected a sad ending
so she pulled out her phone
and looked it up

She just had to know

Warm tears traced tributaries
down her cheeks
as she read the spoiler
in the chilly theater

She wiped her eyes
slid the phone into her pocket
and watched it all unfurl
on the massive screen before her

And despite already knowing
How it would end
she cried as
the credits
rolled
