At the Equinox by Martha Christina

Built high in the maple
the crows’ nest held
sturdy as a burl
through the long winter.

Yesterday, Spring
roared in, proverbial.
Today, the nest is gone,
bare branches, barer still.

And the crows?
Raucous.
Resilient.
Rebuilding.
