Synthetic Beast by Carly Noble

strip the cellulite from her thighs
like the butcher skins his fallen cow,
paint the roses with glycerin.

preservation was never meant to be pretty.

we pick ourselves apart like dandelions

Carly Noble is a junior from Summit High School in Summit, New Jersey. She has been recognized nationally by the Scholastic Writing Awards and has forthcoming work in Polyphony Lit and Quintessence.
